What evidence do you need to make a dieselgate claim?

Following the dieselgate emissions cheating scandal, Keller Lenkner UK is helping owners and lessors of affected vehicles in England and Wales claim compensation. Experts in group litigation, we make claiming straightforward and hassle-free. But how does the process work? And what information do we need from you?

Step one. Check if you have an emissions claim

If you own or lease a diesel vehicle (or have done in the past), the first thing we need you to do is check whether you have a claim.

You can do this using our quick online eligibility tool. Just input your vehicle registration number(s) using the button below, and we’ll walk you through the process.

Step two. Sign up with Keller Lenkner UK

Once you have confirmed that you have owned or leased an affected vehicle, you can register to claim with Keller Lenkner UK. Signing up is easy, and with our online registration process, it can be done in a matter of minutes.

Concerns about costs can stop people from appointing a solicitor. At Keller Lenkner UK, we act on a strict no win, no fee basis. So, as our client, you do not have to pay us anything upfront. If we do succeed, we take a success fee from the compensation we recover for you. This fee covers the time we have spent working on your case. If we do not win, you won’t have to pay us a penny. We will explain more about our no-win, no-fee agreement and success fee during the sign-up process.

Step three. Give us the evidence we need to win your case

To progress your claim, there are three kinds of documents we need you to provide.

  1. Primary. These are the most important as without these your case will be very weak and could fail. This includes things like:
    • A purchase invoice from garage/dealer
    • Any finance agreements
    • Any lease agreements if you acquired the vehicle through a lease
  2. Secondary. These are useful and could add value to your claim. The documents we need will depend on your circumstances.
  3. Documentation about any emissions software fix (where relevant).

Once you have registered with us, we will provide a list of everything we need. If you can’t find the necessary documents, don’t worry.  Your dealership, the garage where you purchased your car, or the finance company you used to help with the purchase may still have copies. Once you have registered with us, we will provide you with some guidance and templates to help you get this evidence if you do not have it to hand.

Those affected may be entitled to thousands of pounds each

By fitting unlawful defeat devices into their diesel vehicles, guilty manufacturers participated in the emission of illegally high levels of dangerous gases into the atmosphere. As well as the impact on the environment and human health, the affected vehicles are likely worth less than the drivers paid for them. Drivers may also have experienced higher fuel bills and maintenance costs.

Keller Lenkner UK is holding car manufacturers to account for cheating the system, harming the environment, and lying to their customers. When it comes to getting justice for our clients, we have everything it takes to win.
