With the 2022 World Cup underway in Qatar, football gripped the nation. And, we also had football fever. But in addition to cheering on England and Wales, we were also keeping a close eye to successes nearer to home, as we became a proud sponsor of Walsall under-13s football club Silverdale Galaxy.
Fake cryptocurrency investments are a growing concern. In 2021, according to Action Fraud, Britons lost more than £150 million to cryptocurrency fraudsters, with 18-25-year-olds the hardest hit. Like traditional money, cryptocurrencies can be used to buy goods and services, and they can be traded for profit. So, it is no surprise that the cryptocurrency is being targeted by criminals. With the equivalent of millions of pounds being stolen from cryptocurrency holdings each year, this is a very lucrative market.
In July 2022, South Staffordshire PLC, the parent company of South Staffordshire Water discovered that it had experienced a cyber-attack. When the water company first announced the cyberattack in August 2022, it was reported that the criminals had accessed the personal data of current and former South Staffordshire Water employees.
In December, we launched a group action to help those involved in the South Staffordshire Water data security failure claim compensation for any distress or losses experienced because of this breach.
Over the last few weeks – almost a year after cybercriminals hacked Parasol’s systems – we have seen an influx of clients registering with us. This is because Parasol is only now formally notifying some contractors and employees that their data was affected in the breach. To help those affected by this breach, we created a handy guide.
